Employee Injured in Fire at Springfield Cabinet Factory
Springfield – A fire broke out Thursday morning at the KD Products factory, located east of Glenstone Avenue near Chestnut Expressway. KD Products is a manufacturer of custom cabinetry.
The Springfield Fire Department responded quickly and found the fire contained within a hopper connected to a vent system used to filter sawdust from the building. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control promptly, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the facility.
One employee sustained minor burns during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The employee is expected to make a full recovery.
Springfield Fire Chief Lindsay Leasburg praised the department’s rapid response and effective containment efforts. “The fire was contained to a hopper connected to a vent system filtering sawdust out of the building. Our team did an excellent job ensuring everyone’s safety and preventing further damage,” Leasburg said.
KD Products is cooperating with fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire. The company reaffirmed its commitment to employee safety and stated that it is taking all necessary steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
