NKBA | KBIS Unveils the Latest Kitchen Trends from EuroCucina 2024

Milan, Italy – April 16–21, 2024 – The NKBA | KBIS team had exclusive access to EuroCucina 2024 and its partner event, FTK (Technology for the Kitchen), where cutting-edge kitchen innovations from around the globe were unveiled. Held in Milan, this premier international event provided a platform for leading brands to showcase trends and technologies shaping the future of kitchen design.

Sustainability Takes Center Stage

Sustainability was a dominant theme at EuroCucina 2024. Nobilia introduced its 2024 SENSO range, made from 100 percent recycled materials, alongside a booth constructed with 80 percent recycled components. Thomas Johannesmeier of Nobilia highlighted the brand’s use of recyclable, 100 percent water-based lacquer.

Karl Hinkfuss of Kohler emphasized sustainable materials and responsible manufacturing practices, while the House of Rohl showcased the water-efficient Ledro bathtub and durable fireclay products. DURAVIT’s Leonie Wöhrle announced the company’s CO₂-neutral initiative in Canada. Cosentino introduced Earthic, a surface composed of 30 percent recycled materials, 10 percent or less silica, and manufactured using 100 percent renewable energy and 99 percent recycled water.

Color and Mixed Materials Reign Supreme

A renewed emphasis on color and mixed materials was evident throughout the show. Kohler showcased vibrant, expressive designs such as the Numi 2.0 intelligent toilet featuring dynamic e-ink visuals. DURAVIT’s Sivida line presented wash basins in a range of color options.

Wöhrle also noted growing interest in marble-inspired surfaces that bring elegance to bathroom spaces. These trends align with the NKBA | KBIS Kitchen Trends Report, which forecasts a rise in personalized, colorful kitchen environments.

Expanded Kitchens and Whole-House Integration

The concept of the kitchen expanding beyond its traditional footprint gained momentum at EuroCucina. Manuela Ricci of Signature Kitchen Suite highlighted the integration of appliances such as wine cellars into living rooms and bedrooms. Johannesmeier added that manufacturers are increasingly designing products suitable for multiple areas of the home, reflecting a broader move toward whole-house design continuity.

Innovative Storage Solutions

Ricci also identified a growing trend in specialized storage solutions, including the refrigeration of beauty and skincare products. This evolution supports customizable interiors and positions the kitchen as a wellness-focused hub, consistent with insights from the NKBA | KBIS Kitchen Trends Report.

Technology at the Forefront

Advanced technology was a defining feature of EuroCucina 2024. Exhibits included sleek induction cooktops and AI-enabled appliances designed to simplify cooking and enhance efficiency. Notable examples included Gaggenau’s integrated cooktop systems and bulthaup’s temperature-adjusting cooktop, both demonstrating a seamless fusion of design and performance.

Emerging Design Trends

  1. Grooved and Textured Front Panels: Solid wood, laminate, and glass panels added depth and character while blending traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing.
  2. Concealed Kitchens: Pocket doors and sliding panels allowed kitchens to merge effortlessly with living spaces.
  3. Open Shelving and Functional Wall Panels: These elements blurred the line between storage and display, offering expanded personalization.
  4. Natural Materials and Earth Tones: Colors such as terracotta and sage green, paired with marble and wood, created calming, nature-inspired environments.
  5. Smooth Edges and Mitered Shelves: Rounded corners and curved surfaces introduced refined elegance through softer, flowing forms.

EuroCucina 2024 highlighted the industry’s continued commitment to sustainability, personalization, and technological innovation. The event set a clear direction for future kitchen and bath trends, offering a glimpse into the evolving kitchens of tomorrow.
